Cajun Porch

By Eunice T. Dearing

Birds are singin' in de trees,
Mosquitoes a buzzin' in de breeze,
Turtles sunnin' on de logs,
Pay on 'tention to de dogs.
There's rabbit, gator, possum, too,
Just to name some of de view.
Moss a hanging from cypress limbs,
Swamp's alive with all of them's.
Hot crawfish my tongue do scorch,
All this from my cajun porch.
Summer, winter, spring, and fall,
From my porch I see it all.
Rockin' in my rockin' chair,
Cajun porch's view's so fair.
